Puy du Fou stories

Puy du Fou

Puy du Fou is a historical park in the Pays de la Loire region of France covering 140 acres. The company’s CEO is Nicolas de Villiers.

The brand story begins with The Cinéscénie show in 1978, the first in a series of productions which resulted in the creation of Grand Parc Puy du Fou ten years later.

Unlike traditional theme parks, Puy du Fou’s main attractions are productions instead of rides. The park receives approximately 2 million guests each year, making it one of the most popular attractions in the country. Shows include jousting, historical reenactments, equestrian displays and walkthrough experiences. These are spread throughout four period villages, alongside more than twenty restaurants.

In 2007, the operator opened its first hotel, La Villa Gallo-Romaine, within the setting of a Mediterranean garden. Other accommodation has since opened including the stilt-houses of Les Îles de Clovis and medieval fortress replica La Citadelle.

Puy du Fou España, the company’s first full-scale park outside France, opened in 2021. The 30-hectare venue near Toledo, Spain, debuted with daytime shows including El Ultimo Cantar, A Pluma y Espada, and Cetrería de Reyes.

The entertainment company has won awards from IAAPA including the Applause Award in 2014 and The Hall of Fame Award in 2017. It also won Best Attraction Venue in France during the Remarkable Venue Awards in 2020.

International heritage

In 2022, Puy du Fou announced it would be opening its first permanent attraction in North America, as part of an 80-hectare Tennessee development called The 407: Gateway to Adventure.

The operator has also announced an exclusive train ride experience, Le Grand Tour, which will take travellers on a six-day tour of France. A €76m experience named ‘Saga’, is destined for Shanghai, China. The company has also discussed its plans for Puy du Fou Asia.
