Six Flags owns and operates 11 large-scale ride parks throughout North America: nine in the United States, one in Canada, and one in Mexico. Among them, Six Flags partially own and operates, two ‘Partnership Parks’ in the U.S.: Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Over Georgia. Six Flags also owns and operates the 10 Hurricane Harbor water parks in the U.S. primarily as second gates of Six Flags theme parks. Six Flags operates another two non-Six Flags-branded regional theme parks in the U.S., whose lease rights were acquired by Six Flags from Premier Parks in 2018, along with three other water parks.
Six Flags has been expanding internationally by signing licensing agreements without capital investment. Six Flags previously signed agreements with local partners in Dubai and China to develop theme parks in the area. However, both agreements were terminated in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The only park under such agreement in the pipeline is Six Flags Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled to open in 2023.
Six Flags holds exclusive long-term licenses for theme park usage of various Warner Bros. IP, including Looney Tunes, DC Comics and Hanna-Barbera. New rides based on DC Comics IP have opened at Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags St. Louis, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
Six Flags was planned to launch a collection of world record-breaking roller coasters and family attractions in 2020 season, along with the upgrades and rebrands of some parks. All the upgrades in 2020 were pushed to 2021 due to Covid.
