Six Flags Entertainment Corporation

Overview

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (Six Flags) is the largest regional theme park company in the world.

Six Flags operates 15 large-scale ride parks throughout North America. Six Flags operates another 11 water parks, primarily as the second gate of Six Flags parks. The parks are under a mix of ownership structure: fully owned, partially owned or leased by Six Flags.

Six Flags has been expanding internationally by signing licensing agreements without capital investment. Six Flags previously signed agreements with local partners in Dubai and China to develop theme parks in the regions. However, both agreements were terminated in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The only park under such agreement in the pipeline is Six Flags Saudi Arabia, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

Six Flags holds exclusive long-term licenses for theme park usage of various Warner Bros. intellectual property (IP), including Looney Tunes, DC Comics and Hanna-Barbera. New rides based on DC Comics IP have opened at Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Six Flags planned to launch a collection of world record-breaking roller coasters and family attractions in the 2020 season, along with upgrades and rebrands at some parks. All of the upgrades in 2020 were pushed back to 2021 due to Covid.
