Sunac China Holdings Limited

Overview

Sunac China Holdings Limited is among the top real estate development companies in China in terms of revenue. In addition to traditional residential and commercial developments across China, Sunac’s business sectors include culture and tourism, health and senior living, and conference centers (MICE).

Sunac entered the theme park business by acquiring all of Wanda Group’s 13 culture tourism projects in 2017. The attractions in Sunac’s culture tourism projects typically consist of three to four attraction gates, with different combinations of anchor outdoor theme parks, water parks, indoor ski slopes, aquariums and show theaters. Starting in 2019 and 2020, Sunac adjusted the ticketing strategies in its outdoor theme parks to offer ‘pay-as-you-go’ pricing options with the single play token priced as low as CNY 10.

Beyond attractions, each of Sunac’s culture tourism projects also include retail, dining and entertainment districts (RDE), indoor malls (typically Wanda Mall), hotels and significant residential and commercial components.
