It currently owns and operates four mega theme parks: Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida, and Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. In addition, it co-owns and co-operates Universal Studios Beijing, which opened in 2021. It also has one licensed park: Universal Studios Singapore.
Universal’s parks are developed as part of a larger destination development that includes hotels, RDE district (i.e. Universal CityWalk), and, as in Orlando, multiple attraction gates.
Like Disney, Universal Parks & Resorts has access to a vast collection of film and media properties created and acquired by its parent company. It also commonly licenses IP from other studios, networks and gaming companies, including Harry Potter (Warner Bros.), The Simpsons (The Walt Disney Company/20th Century Fox), Super Mario (Nintendo) and Marvel Comic Book Characters (The Walt Disney Company/Marvel Entertainment).
