Songcheng Group is to develop a RMB20bn ($3.2bn) “art town” in the Zheijang Province of China. The development is intended to become a cultural destination for tourists around the round.

The 333 hectare Xitang China Art Town, will incorporate elements of performing arts, theatre, theme parks, water parks, fashion and exhibitions. A release states that it will be based on Songcheng Group’s previous core mode of “theme park plus tourism performing arts”.

Songcheng Group describes itself as the biggest creator of cultural tourism projects in China. It operates around 30 theme parks and attractions across the country, with a strong emphasis on live shows and performance.

The company has signed a deal with Zhejiang Jiashan Municipal People’s Government and Jiashan County Xitang Town People’s Government to jointly developing the project.

Xitang is an ancient town crisscrossed by nine rivers linked by stone bridges and is located in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province. The canals serve as the main transportation thoroughfares in the area.
